The Pendle Hippodrome once again takes centre stage as one of the festival's flagship venues, hosting 19 outstanding performances across the weekend. From acclaimed international artists to rising stars, there's an exceptional line-up in store, including headliners Dom Martin & Band, Ray Beadle and the legendary Walter Trout. The weekend concludes with a fitting finale on Sunday evening as the festival pays tribute to the late John Mayall, celebrating the life and legacy of one of British blues' true pioneers. 18:00 – 19:00 Ashley Sherlock Band The Ashley Sherlock Band gets the 2026 Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival underway on Friday 28th August, bringing its acclaimed blend of blues-rock to Colne. Hailing from Manchester, Ashley Sherlock is joined by bassist Nick Baxter and drummer Danny Rigg, forming a dynamic trio that's built a growing reputation for outstanding live performances. Following two well-received EPs, the band signed with renowned blues label Ruf Records before releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, Just A Name, in 2023. 21:00 – 22:00 Susan Santos Madrid-based guitarist, singer-songwriter and left-handed blues powerhouse Susan Santos has earned an international reputation for her distinctive blend of blues, rock and Americana. A self-taught musician, she's performed across Europe, Mexico and the USA, sharing the stage with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and winning Best Musician Performance at the 2018 European Blues Awards. Her acclaimed catalogue of albums showcases her soulful songwriting, expressive guitar work and commanding stage presence. With a style that's both fiery and melodic, Susan Santos continues to push contemporary blues in exciting new directions, delivering performances that are as captivating as they are memorable.

22:30 – 23:45 Dom Martin & Band Belfast-born guitarist and singer-songwriter Dom Martin has become one of the most exciting names in contemporary blues. Since emerging in 2019, the multi-award-winning UK Blues Hall of Fame artist has captivated audiences with his soulful voice, exceptional guitar playing and powerful live performances. Equally compelling as a solo acoustic performer or fronting his high-energy power trio, Dom's music blends blues, rock and folk influences into a style that's unmistakably his own. Often compared to the late Rory Gallagher, he has earned widespread acclaim, with Blues in Britain describing him as "a rare talent of such sheer genius.”

12:00 – 13:00 Steely Don Steely Don is an outstanding 11-piece band from the North West dedicated to celebrating the timeless music of Steely Dan and Donald Fagen. With exceptional musicianship and meticulous attention to detail, the band faithfully recreates the sophisticated arrangements, distinctive grooves and unmistakable sound that made Steely Dan one of music's most influential acts. 13:45 – 14:45 Doctor Brown & The Groovecats Festival favourites Doctor Brown & The Groovecats return to Colne with the infectious mix of blues, rhythm and groove that has made them firm crowd-pleasers over the years. Familiar faces at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, they've performed at venues across the town, from the old Roadhouse stages and the Sports Centre to more recent appearances on the Official Fringe. A welcome return from true festival stalwarts.

15:30 – 16:30 The Achievers For more than a decade, The Achievers have built a reputation as one of the UK's most original and accomplished blues and roots acts. Blending blues, Americana and roots music with infectious rhythms, rich vocal harmonies and outstanding musicianship, their live shows are renowned for their warmth, energy and feel-good atmosphere. Winners of the 2019 UK Blues Challenge, they've also

earned multiple UK Blues Award nominations and represented Britain at both the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and the European Blues Challenge in Malmö. Expect a performance that's uplifting, distinctive and impossible to pigeonhole.

Michael Messer & Chaz Jankel's Dance of Life brings together four outstanding musicians for a vibrant celebration of blues, rock 'n' roll and global rhythms. Acclaimed slide guitarist and songwriter Michael Messer joins forces with legendary songwriter Chaz Jankel, alongside bassist Billy Fuller, whose

credits include Robert Plant, and drummer Clive Deamer, best known for his work with Radiohead and Portishead. Drawing on decades of musical experience, the quartet creates a rich, groove-driven sound that's warm, inventive and full of energy. Expect world-class musicianship.

countries, they've shared stages with legends including B.B. King, Cab Calloway and Ray Charles, and toured with the original Blues Brothers Band. Fronted by acclaimed singer, songwriter and harmonica player Katie Bradley, the band blends deep blues roots with soul, swing and the spirit of New Orleans. Featuring the fiery guitar work of Kieren Marsh, the boogie-woogie piano of Francesco Ernesto and the dynamic drumming of Mykola Mishurenko, the quartet delivers a vibrant, groove-filled live show where Beale Street meets Bourbon Street in a celebration of modern blues.

consecutive festival appearance. Fronting J-Bear and the Giants, the much-loved local musician has become an integral part of the festival's story, winning audiences over with his powerful vocals, warm stage presence and heartfelt songwriting.

Proudly flying the flag for Colne's thriving music scene, J-Bear continues to deliver performances full of soul, honesty and passion. For many festival-goers, it simply wouldn't be the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival without J-Bear and the Giants taking to the stage.

Blues Revelation have become firm favourites at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, earning a reputation as one of the UK's most exciting emerging blues acts. Fronted by John Carroll

on vocals, guitar and harmonica, the band blends traditional blues with soul, rhythm and blues and a modern rock edge. Backed by Brian Hunter, Chris Peacock and Craig Holland, they deliver powerful performances driven by outstanding musicianship, infectious grooves and genuine passion. With original material attracting growing attention and a debut studio album on the horizon, this is a band very much on the rise.

19:15 – 20:15 Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers Formed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of John Mayall's iconic Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton album, Sonny Flint's Beano Bluesbreakers faithfully recreates one of the defining recordings in British blues history. Led by Sonny Flint, son of the album's original drummer Hughie Flint, the band brings an authentic approach, using period instruments and capturing the sound and spirit of the original sessions. Featuring guitarist Neil Roberts, bassist Pete Billing and

vocalist Laine Hines, son of Denny Laine, this is a heartfelt tribute to a landmark album and a fitting support for Walter Trout on Sunday.

20:45 – 22:00 Walter Trout Blues-rock legend Walter Trout has spent more than five decades earning a reputation as one of the genre's most powerful guitarists, songwriters and live performers. Still pushing forward, his latest album, Sign Of The Times, channels the uncertainty and tensions of the modern world with the honesty and passion that have defined his career. Following the chart-topping success of Broken, Trout delivers a collection of hard-hitting songs that are both deeply

personal and fiercely relevant. A true icon of contemporary blues, Walter Trout remains an electrifying performer and a fitting headline act for the festival's 35th anniversary.

OUR PLACE IN THE UK BLUES HALL OF FAME … One of our proudest moments came earlier this year when we officially secured our place in the UK Blues Hall of Fame. Winning Blues Based Festival of the Year for a second consecutive year gave us our third UK Blues Award, having first received the honour in 2019. To be recognised alongside some of the biggest names in British blues is something we're incredibly proud of and a milestone that reflects everything this festival stands for. For 35 years, we've welcomed world-class artists and thousands of music lovers to Colne, while remaining a festival that's built by the community, for the community. This achievement belongs to everyone who has played a part in that journey, our volunteers, sponsors, venues, artists, local businesses, Colne Blues Society, Colne Town Council and, above all, our audiences. The Muni Theatre makes a welcome return to the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival for the first time since 2022. Fittingly, it's a venue with deep festival roots, having hosted performances during the inaugural event in 1990. Fresh from its £1.5 million refurbishment, The Muni is once again ready to welcome blues fans for a memorable weekend. 18:30 – 19:30 Sloetrain Blues Band Since forming in 2014, Sloetrain Blues Band has become a familiar name on the UK blues circuit, earning praise for its distinctive original material and powerful live performances. Blending driving blues with rock influences, the five-piece has built a loyal following through appearances at festivals and venues across the country. Their latest album, Kings of Saturday Night, marks the next chapter for the band, showcasing infectious grooves, thoughtful songwriting and soaring guitar work. 20:00 – 21:00 The Mel Outsider Reformation Mel Outsider brings his seven-piece band to The Muni on Friday night with music from their latest album, Mel Goes Funky. 21:30 – 22:30 Chloe Josephine With a career spanning more than 20 years, Chloe Josephine has established herself as one of the UK's finest contemporary blues voices.

A three-time UK Blues Awards finalist for Vocalist of the Year, she has toured extensively, received national radio and television exposure, and co-founded the award-winning blues-rock band Brave Rival.

Now focusing on her solo work, Chloe blends soul, blues, R&B, pop and folk into a sound that's uniquely her own. Backed in Colne by guitarist Thomas Heppell and his band, expect outstanding vocals, heartfelt songwriting and a performance full of warmth, energy and personality.

bandleader Mike Sanchez is one of the most respected names in rhythm & blues and rock 'n' roll. Famed for his explosive boogie-woogie piano playing and infectious stage presence, he has enjoyed an international career spanning four decades. After co-founding the acclaimed

Big Town Playboys, Mike went on to perform with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and collaborate with artists including Jeff Beck, Imelda May and Albert Lee. Now based in Spain, he continues to tour and record, delighting audiences with a thrilling blend of blues, rock 'n' roll and vintage rhythm & blues.

13:00 – 14:00 Bison Hip Bison Hip proves that great blues-rock has nothing to do with age and everything to do with honesty. Formed in 2020 by five seasoned musicians, the band draws on a lifetime of experience to create songs full of grit, humour, heartbreak and hope. Their latest album, Everything That Came Before Was Just Leading Up To This, captures a band hitting its stride, following the success of Welcome To The Rest Of Your Life. With driving riffs, memorable hooks and a

refreshingly authentic approach, Bison Hip delivers blues-rock that's rooted in real life and made to be played loud.

14:45 – 15:45 Jack-Austin Despy Blues Band Essex guitarist Jack-Austin Despy is one of the brightest young talents to emerge on the UK blues scene. First turning heads with a remarkable

performance at the Rory Gallagher Festival UK at just 13 years old, he has since gone on to play respected venues and festivals including the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon, Ballyshannon Rhythm & Blues Festival and London's legendary 100 Club. His rapid rise has also been recognised by the UK Blues Federation, earning nominations for Emerging Act of the Year and Jules Fothergill Young Blues Artist of the Year, where he was a finalist in 2025.

16:30 – 17:30 Atomic Rooster Since reforming in 2016 with the blessing of founder Vincent Crane's widow, Atomic Rooster has proudly carried forward the legacy of one of Britain's most influential progressive rock bands. Led by original early-1970s guitarist Steve 'Boltz' Bolton, the band continues to celebrate its rich musical heritage while introducing new material from its latest album, Circle the Sun. Alongside classic hits including Tomorrow Night and Devil's Answer, audiences can expect favourites from landmark albums such as Death Walks Behind You and In Hearing Of... in a set that honours the band's enduring place in British rock history.

20:15 – 21:15 Will Wilde Will Wilde has redefined what's possible with the blues harmonica, earning a reputation as one of the most exciting performers on today's blues-rock scene. With a powerful voice and an electrifying harmonica style that takes centre stage, his sound draws inspiration from blues greats while embracing the energy of modern rock. The winner of Instrumentalist of the Year at the 2026 UK Blues Awards, Will also received nominations for Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Challenge winner Lightnin' Willie has built an international reputation for blues that's impossible to stand still to.

From intimate blues clubs to major festivals, including London's Royal Albert Hall and Willie Nelson's famous 4th of July Picnic, Willie has won over audiences wherever he performs. Florida guitarist, singer-songwriter and entertainer David Julia has been immersed in the blues from an early age, beginning his professional career at just 10 years old. By his teens he was performing across Florida and has since competed at the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in Memphis on four occasions.

His debut album, Inspired, produced by Mike Zito and released on the VizzTone label, pays tribute to the blues legends who shaped his musical journey. Blending youthful energy with deep respect for the tradition, David Julia is an exciting talent continuing to make his mark on the international blues scene. 16:30 – 17:30 Katie & The Bad Sign Manchester's Katie & the Bad Sign deliver guitar-driven rock with confidence, attitude and plenty of energy. Drawing inspiration from the city's rich musical heritage, the band blends powerful riffs, memorable melodies and honest songwriting into a sound that's both hard-hitting and infectious. Fronted by Katie's distinctive vocals, they've built a reputation for lively performances that leave a lasting impression. With a growing following and increasing

Paul Benjaman builds on the classic Tulsa Sound of J.J. Cale and Leon Russell, blending groove-based American music with powerful guitar. A former student of Junior Brown, Paul focuses on groove and original guitar style. As bandleader and sideman, he’s worked with Steve Earle, George Porter Jr., John Densmore, Kris Kristofferson and more. He toured with Grammy-nominated John Fullbright and appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon for the T Bone Burnett-produced Secret Sisters. Paul’s tours across Europe and the U.S. spread his Tulsa Sound, earning coverage in American Songwriter, Paste Magazine and Rolling Stone.

21:15 – 22:15 Mississippi MacDonald Mississippi MacDonald is one of the UK's leading soul and blues artists, renowned for his authentic songwriting and deep-rooted love of the genre. Whether delivering timeless classics or original material, Dave brings authenticity, humour and musicianship in equal measure. 17:00 – 18:00 Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke Fran McGillivray and Mike Burke have been performing together since the late 1970s, crafting a distinctive blend of blues, folk, country and Americana. 20:30 – 22:00 A Tribute to Rod Mayall Musicians from across the Stockport and Manchester blues scene come together to celebrate the life and music of the much-missed Rod Mayall. Featuring friends, bandmates and long-time collaborators including Jon Ingham, Dave Eatock, Andy Millington, John Brett, Linda Lamon, Niall Brett and Mandy Montgomery, this heartfelt tribute honours a hugely respected musician whose legacy continues to inspire the North West blues community.
