It was resolved the Committee would meet again on December 19 th , to consider matters in relation to the staff employed in the Transport Department. The Transport Sub-Committee met to discuss the position with regard to the employment of the transport staff as a consequence of the changeover from tramcars to omnibuses. They then considered the agreement of the National Joint Industrial Council for the regulation of the hours of labour and the conditions of service for the operating and maintenance staff of the Transport Department. Whilst these matters were under discussion they were joined by two other members of the Transport Committee. The Burnley Road section was always worked by single-deck cars, but on the occasions of football matches or cricket matches any type of car could be seen stacked up at the Hillock Vale terminus, as Peel Park football ground and Thorneyholme Road cricket grounds were both a short distance away. It was said that when the system closed it had amassed a surplus of about £60,000, and had not exercised its powers to extend the system beyond Clayton-le-Moors to Whalley, a distance of four miles, and also to link up with the Burnley system at Rose Grove.
