To add to this list the Tramway Manager was authorised to obtain the following items on an ‘as and when required’ basis by using his own judgements, all ironmongery from either J. W. Bridge Ltd or Riley & Co., all insulating materials from L. Andrew & Co., as per price list. Brushes from W. Phillips & Co., glass from J. Robinson as per tender, sand, Mazda lamps to be sourced from the Electricity Department of the Corporation, timber from the town’s own yard and overhead wire, with the stipulation that tenders must be submitted for all orders in excess of £2. It was then resolved that all tenders for the supply of uniforms, clothing and caps would be dealt with by the Chairman and Alderman Rawson. Having examined the samples and tenders submitted by several firms, it was decided to accept the one from Messrs James Smith & Company, (Derby) for the following - a. 6 Inspectors’ tunics @ £1 – 5s – 0d each, 6 Inspectors’ vests @ 6/- each and 6 Inspectors’ trousers @ 14/- per pair. b. 37 Drivers’ tunics @ 18/6d each, 33 Drivers’ trousers @ 10/- per pair. c. 34 Conductors’ tunics @ 18/6d each and 34 Conductors’ trousers @ 10/- per pair. d. 15 Parcel youths’ tunics @ 18/6d each and 15 trousers @ 10/- per pair. The tender from Messrs Zeffet & Co., was accepted for the supply of caps as follows - 86 Drivers' and conductors' caps @ 2/3d each plus 6 Inspectors' caps @ 5/- each. April The Electrical Sub-Committee received a deputation from the motormen and conductors, where they submitted a list of grievances. These were carefully considered before recommendations were made to the full Committee. It was resolved the Town Clerk and the Tramway Manager would revise the ‘rules and regulations’ for crews and submit them to the Committee for further consideration. The Electrical, Legal & Parliamentary Committee met to hear from their Sub-Committee on a meeting they had with a deputation of motormen and conductors, where the crews voiced grievances with respect to the time they were allowed for early shift signing on and off, and for their breakfast interval. It was unanimously resolved they would be allowed twenty minutes for signing on, inspecting and preparing their cars and signing off. They could also have a twenty minute breakfast interval. These would be paid at ‘working time’ rates. The Borough Treasurer then presented the abstract accounts for the year ending March 31 st ,
