It was resolved to accept and adopt this report. It was further resolved the Borough Treasurer to settle all outstanding loans to the amount of £29,620 – 3s – 0d from the invested funds, standing to the credit of the Depreciation & Renewals Fund of the Tramways undertaking. The General Works Committee met, and it was resolved that the Chairman, Vice-Chair and Alderman Higham along with all the officials concerned, should meet with the County Authority to urge them to give permission to reinstate the road surfaces on all sections of the former tramway within the Borough as soon as it was possible. It was resolved that the members of the Town Council would be entitled to passes to enable them to travel without cost on the Corporation’s omnibuses. It was reported to the Committee that the waiting room which occupied part of the Parcels Office in Church was shut in the early evenings at the same time as the Parcels Office closed. It was resolved the General Manager should look into this, with a view to coming to a more effective arrangement. The Borough Treasurer reported the Home Office had agreed to a claim for a subsidy in order to fund the ambulance service. The 1931/32 reimbursement would be £151 – 6s – 3d, which was equal to one-sixth of the cost of the ambulance service in that year. He promised that a similar claim would be made and favourably received. August The Transport Sub-Committee met, to receive a deputation from Church UDC who had themselves received an application from Blackburn Corporation, to continue operating their tramway service to a point adjacent to the Accrington boundary with Church, instead of at present to a point just to the west of the Church Commercial hotel in Church. The Town Clerk reported on correspondence which had passed between himself and the County Council on this subject. Following an exchange of views, he had submitted a draft letter to the Clerk to Lancashire County Council and Church UDC expressing strong objections to this proposal. He requested that before coming to a final decision on this matter, the
