This report was accepted and approved. The Tramway Manager reported to a meeting of the Tramway Sub-Committee, that the new Wolseley Ambulance had received ‘slight’ damage in an accident whilst collecting a patient from Blackburn Infirmary and returning to Accrington. No one had been injured but the ambulance had suffered some damage to the steering mechanism. He had instructed a local firm to repair the damage, and had then submitted a claim to the insurance company. Mr Pilling then reported on his visit to, and subsequent correspondence with the Brush Electrical Engineering Company of Loughborough in connection with the construction of the omnibus bodies. He also submitted alternative layouts for the seating accommodation for the two smaller buses, which it was resolved, would have 18 seats each. July The Watch Committee met, when it was reported by the Town Clerk that he had received a communication from the County Surveyor, in which he had indicated the Main Roads & Bridges Committee had decided not to raise any objections to erecting a tramway shelter on the footpath in Burnley Road at or close to the tramway terminus. This so long as it was built in accordance with the plans submitted by the Council, and an undertaking was given to remove it at the Corporation’s own expense if called upon to do so by the County. It was resolved that this undertaking would be given. At a meeting of the Tramway Committee, they received a letter from the Ministry of Transport in response to the Corporation’s application for a general revision of the maximum speed permissible on the tramway. It
