January At a meeting of the Tramways Sub-Committee, the Tramway Manager recommended a re adjustment of the ‘STOP BY REQUEST’ placed between the 1½ pence stage and Sunnyside on the Baxenden Section. The present STOP on the eighth standard above the Victoria loop on Manchester Road should be moved to the sixth standard, with a ‘STOP BY REQUEST’ substituted on the ninth standard. Also the ‘STOP’ at the Sunnyside loop is relocated to the junction with Hollins Lane. It was agreed to adopt these suggestions. It was also resolved that the Tramway Manager should confer with the Manager of Haslingden tramways on the subject of a revision of services on the Haslingden Section. On the 16 th , Mr M. H. Sanderson was appointed to the vacant post of Borough Engineer & Surveyor. February The Tramway Committee met when the Town Clerk then reported that he had also had a meeting with the solicitors of the LMS Railway Company, who had given an explanation of the Petition they had lodged against the Accrington Corporation Bill. They explained it was largely designed to be protective in character towards their own best interests. March According to official records up until March 31 st , 1928, Accrington’s electric tramcars had covered 14,295, 849 miles in service, with a total of 168,993,098 passenger journeys, without one serious injury or fatality to a passenger. ( Although the same could not be said of pedestrians .)
