TOTALS £3,710 The traffic revenue for 1923/24 was £54,458, and for 1922/23 was £56,889, a decrease of £2,431. TRAMWAYS (Temporary Increase in Charges) Act 1920. During the year 1920/21 application was made to the Ministry of Transport for a Provisional Order under this Act and subsequently by Accrington Corporation (Temporary Increase of Charges) Order 1921. This authorised an increase in fares up until February 15 th , 1924. Following expiration, a further application was made to continue such increases for a period up to and ending on March 31 st , 1924. STATISTICS The expenditure under certain categories can be divided into two parts, (1) which relates to the tramway service excluding the Borough of Haslingden, and (2) that which relates to the whole of the system including Haslingden. The additional earnings during the year from the Haslingden service = £6,033 – 12s – 1d, and this is shown in the abstract accounts by way of deducting from the working expenses in one sum.
