At a meeting of the Electricity & Tramways Committee, with regard to the matters of administration raised by the representatives of the United Vehicle Workers affecting the way in which the conductors checked-in their returns, the Tramway Manager reported he had been in contact with other tramway undertakings in order to ascertain their practices. He found that the practice of ‘crediting’ conductors with any surplus takings was not in vogue when delivering their returns at the end of a stint of duty. It was resolved therefore the Tramway Manager could continue to follow the prevalent custom as indicated. May The Electricity & Tramways Committee met to receive correspondence from the Secretary of the Tramway Employees asking for interview with the Sub-Committee on the question of “playing off”. The Town Clerk reported that having arranged this meeting at the last minute the deputation had called it off by a letter in which they stated they had decided to refer this question to the Joint National Council.
