Electricity & Tramways Account January schedule = £19,966 – 0s – 10d. February On the 21 st , the Electricity & Tramway Committee met, and the Tramway Manager reported that the number of ex-servicemen who had lost a leg or ‘otherwise’ become disabled to the extent that they would be unable to get about without an artificial aid, would probably be in excess of fifty. It was resolved the Council would be recommended to grant free passes within the Borough to disabled ex servicemen who fell into the categories described, subject to a reservation that they could be withdrawn at any time if it was thought necessary for any reason. It was resolved the Council should make an application to the Ministry of Health for permission to borrow this additional sum of money. Figures were also produced of loans for the Tramway at £9,000, and prospective capital expenditure at £1,000. March The Electricity & Tramways Committee met and the Chairman reported that the Tramway Manager had prepared a report on the subject of the introduction of 1 penny fare stages, and had met with the ‘special’ Sub-Committee to discuss this issue. After careful consideration it was decided by this Committee not to recommend any changes in the existing arrangements involving their introduction. The Tramway Manager then submitted a plan showing a proposed cross-over line on Peel Street, which he recommended to the Council, should be laid in order to facilitate an improvement in the operation of the
