April The Electrical & Tramways Committee resolved the Borough Surveyor could proceed with the necessary alterations and extensions to the Tramway Offices in the Market Hall. They then considered an application for an increase in wages from Mr S. E. Ogden, the Chief Clerk in the Tramway Offices. It was resolved to recommend to a meeting of the full Council, his weekly pay should be increased from £2 – 6s – 0d to £2 – 10s – 0d from the 1 st of May next. The Borough Treasurer reported that during the quarter ending March 31 st , 1915, the tramway had consumed 190,312 units of electricity at a cost of £1,063 – 13s – 0d, whereas over the same quarter to March 31 st , 1916 the tramway had consumed 204,815 units at a cost of £2,065 – 14s – 8d. May At a meeting of the Finance Committee, it was resolved that the accounts now included in the schedules had been examined and certified as correct by the various departments and all were recommended for payment.
