It was resolved that the tender for the supply from Messrs Briggs, Jones & Gibson of Manchester would be accepted, (subject to samples of material being supplied and found to be satisfactory), and should be for a period of either one or three years. It was also resolved to accept the tender from Messrs Zeffet & Sons of London for three years supply of caps for the staff as follows - Inspectors @ 4 shillings each and Motormens and Conductors @ 2/3½d each. The Tramway Manager was then authorised to dismiss one of the conductors who had breached the regulations by ‘taking drink’ whilst on duty. He then related the frequent omission by conductors to enter upon their waybills the closing number of tickets immediately before entering another fare stage, also to their making incorrect entries and punching the tickets in the wrong box. The Committee empowered the Tramway Manager to deal with these issues in the manner he felt most appropriate, subject to any possible dismissal being submitted to this Committee beforehand. It was then resolved the Chairman and Borough Treasurer should arrange terms for the insurance of the Tower Wagon.
