Mr Wilson, Tramways Manager, reported he had received a request from Rawtenstall Corporation to borrow some cars from Accrington in order to operate them on their newly opened Whitewell Valley extension. It was resolved to hire some cars to Rawtenstall as may be required, on the same terms that he would have to pay to Blackburn Corporation Tramways to borrow cars from them to cover any shortages should they arise. It was next resolved, subject to the approval of the Markets Committee, the shop next door to the parcels office be appropriated for their use, and a doorway constructed for access to this annex from the base of the existing staircase. The Electrical Sub-Committee convened and met with representatives from Church District Council in order to discuss the best method of lighting the tramway junction on Market Street and Blackburn Road in Church. It was then resolved the Coach-painter’s wages should be fixed at £1 – 14s – 0d for a 53 hour week. The Borough Treasurer reported to the Finance Committee that the amount applied for, in order to repay the debt with regard to the Tramway Account was £2,475. The Tramway Manager then reported on a meeting he had with the managers of both Blackburn and Haslingden Tramways Departments, to discuss a revision of rates for the conveyance of parcels.
