“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Huddersfield Town to The Wham Stadium today to play in an historic match for Accrington Stanley Women FC. For the first time in history the Club is delighted to make an appearance in the second-round proper of the FA Cup, having come through the qualifiers and defeating Rossington Main Ladies in the first-round proper. Season 2024/2025 has been a bumper of a season so far and we cannot wait to play the first game of the season on the 'big pitch' here in the stadium. The team goes into the match undefeated so far this season, confident yet respectful of their opponents who play in two tiers above our women. Our team is a perfect blend of experience and youth who have gelled together nicely after a strong and vigorous pre-season. I am excited to see some of our graduates of the ASWFC player pathway make their Wham Stadium debuts today including youth England international Ocean Flanagan who is named in the squad. We are also really pleased to have some local names such as Ella Whittaker and Niamh Corrigan who will hopefully have plenty of hometown support behind them today. Whilst Huddersfield come in on paper as strong favourites for the game, it's the performance and result on the pitch that matters. Our squad is a mixture of youth and experience and despite experiencing a painful relegation last season from tier 3 we’ve actually got a stronger team this season than last. “We couldn’t be prouder of the intensity, effort, and ongoing

commitment this group has shown over the last few weeks. As I mentioned in the previous round, they’ve already made history for the club and done it in style. For a new group of players, this has been an incredible start to the season, and their resilience speaks volumes about their character. We know the odds are against us given the quality of the opposition and what they’re capable of, but this is the cup - anything can happen. We’ll give it everything we’ve got and leave it all on the pitch.”

“We are excited to have reached the second round of the Women's FA Cup and anticipate a tricky game against Accrington Stanley Women. Our preparation this week has been slightly disrupted due to the snow but our players are fit and well and over recent weeks we've been able to field an almost unchanged side and that has helped us to get a decent run of form going. We will not be taking today's opposition lightly and have prepared for a tough battle.
