MAIN VENUES PENDLE HIPPODROME

SATURDAY 23RD AUGUST

12:00 – 12:45: New Market Street Hot Club Our local opener for Saturday, New Market Street Hot Club, is an exciting new quartet bringing the timeless sound of Hot Club Gypsy Jazz to life, inspired by the legendary Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Hailing from Colne, this talented group features two virtuoso guitarists, a skilled double bassist, and an expressive violinist, combining to deliver swinging rhythms, dazzling solos, and infectious energy. Their performances capture the spirit of 1930s Parisian jazz, infused with their own modern flair. With a deep respect for tradition and a passion for performance, they’re quickly becoming a standout act in the local music scene.

13:15 – 14:15: Dirt Road Band The Dirt Road Band are a powerhouse blues-rock trio featuring Steve Walwyn (guitar/vocals), Horace Panter (bass) and Ted Duggan (drums). With decades of experience - Walwyn with Dr. Feelgood, Panter with The Specials, and Duggan with acts like Badfinger - the band delivers hard-hitting, high-energy performances. Originally a side project, DRB has taken centre stage, showcasing the chemistry and creativity of three seasoned pros. Their debut album Righteous, released in July 2024, earned critical acclaim. Described as “seasoned professionals with the energy of teenagers,” the band’s live shows capture the raw, instinctive magic that comes from years of playing at the top level.
