The Great British R&B Festival 2024

LOCAL MUSIC SCENE COLNE - WEEK IN WEEK OUT It seems like only yesterday that I was writing a piece for the 2023 programme and now here we are, a year down the line, ready for 2024. It’s been a year of very hard work but Colne Blues Society is proud to be partnering once again with Colne Town Council and we are very excited to present to you a fantastic lineup for the 33rd Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival. Last year, to showcase the plethora of talent we have in our local music community, we featured three great local bands on the Hippodrome stage. This year we are doing the same: Strange Brew, stalwarts of the festival fringe for years, will kick off the party on Friday with a masterclass in 70s psychedelic blues-rock. East Lancashire rockers The Mel Outsider Reformation will wake us all up at 12:30pm on Saturday. They stole the show at the Blackpool Blues weekend and we can’t wait to welcome them to a hometown main stage. Sunday’s opener will be Fruitless Forest, a class outfit comprising some of Colne’s finest and most hard-working musicians. These guys deserve your attention.
