We invited 19,000 people to our Coronation event in Nelson town centre, with our special invites being delivered to households around Nelson.

We also sent out letters to all Nelson Primary schools & nurseries inviting them down to take part in the event celebrations on the day and the children were very excited to be taking part in our Crown competition.

We would love to invite your children to take part in an extra special competition to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

All local primary school pupils are being invited to decorate a cardboard King’s crown, included in this pack, with the winners announced on Saturday 6th May at our spectacular Coronation event in Nelson town centre.

We would love to invite your children to take part in an extra special competition to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

We have also provided you with a specially designed Coronation souvenir pack for each child including a commemorative badge, a bookmark, a concertina fact leaflet and a picture of King Charles III.

Please encourage your children to participate in this great community event for all – they can paint, colour, add jewels and get creative with the decoration of their crowns.

They could decorate the crowns and their classrooms as a class activity to prepare for the Coronation, then take the decorated crowns home to bring to the procession for 10.00am on Saturday 6th May.

Alongside the competition, we are inviting all children to attend our Coronation event with a fantastic range of activities taking place from 10:00am – 3:00pm.

The events taking place include:

• A procession led by the world famous Accrington Pipe Band • A giant screen to watch the Coronation live • Roaming street artists • Main stage - performances from The Take That Experience and others • Grassed area for high tea fit for a King and for children to enjoy a picnic • Children’s entertainment featuring face painting, henna artists, craft activities, hook-a-duck and much more! • Encourage children to dress in their best outfit fit for a King • Sports activities • Stalls & fairground rides • Bunting & flags

The events taking place include:

10:00am - All children to arrive with their decorated crowns in front of Nelson Library to take part in the official procession.

We would love it if you could communicate our event to your pupils and encourage them to attend the event on Saturday 6 th May at 10:00am. Please send the invite home with each child, so they can pass on to their parents/guardians.
