Glass Processing

Glass Processors produce products from glass and related materials. Job roles are varied and can include: flat glass processors (manufacturing flat glass and glass related materials); craft or stain glass workers (involved in glass painting, staining, enamelling, leading or cutting); double glazing unit makers; glass design workers (decorating glass and producing original or copying existing designs on items such as mirrors and glass panels); or glass cutters (cutting glass and mirrors to specified shapes and sizes). You may also be involved in using CNC (computer numerical control) machinery to shape, drill and grind glass, working from either computer designs or technical drawings.

You will take a Skills Scan to ensure your current maths and English are at the required level.

Assessment

• Multiple choice knowledge test. • Interview underpinned by a portfolio of work. • Workplace observation and questioning.

Progression

Further study or progression to other career opportunities within the sector such as management or senior support roles.
