The Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn launched the 2023 Futures Event, which is being held in Accrington Stanley’s world class hospitality venue for the first time!

Introduction It’s that time of the year again when we welcome all Year 11 students from schools across the borough to meet a fantastic range of businesses, right here in #AmazingAccrington. This year, the Futures Event is taking place in Accrington Stanley’s world class, £2.5million hospitality venue. A facility which we are incredibly proud to have in our borough, and one which showcases what can be achieved through hard work and determination… we are delighted to welcome our Year 11 students to the club. We are also delighted to welcome over 30 businesses from various industries including tech, cyber, engineering, manufacturing and many more, as well as representatives from training providers, higher education establishments, Armed Forces, emergency services, the NHS and Hyndburn Borough Council. Hyndburn is a borough evolving with modern and vibrant industries, and here at #AmazingAccrington business leaders group, we are determined to bring the community, our businesses and our schools together, and make our future generations aware of the opportunities which are available to them on their doorstep.

The #AmazingAccrington Futures Event is one of the events everyone looks forward to each year. From our local businesses to our Year 11 school children, this is an incredible way to bring both parties together and inspire the next generation in their future careers. We are very lucky to have so many amazing businesses in the local area and this is the perfect chance for them to provide information on what they do, and the opportunities which they can offer. It is an extremely fun day in the calendar and I hope everyone has a great day!

One of the activities which we run throughout the year is visiting both primary and secondary schools with local business leaders. A thoroughly informative and rewarding exercise, students from across the borough have learned about the wealth of career paths on offer to them, from digital marketing and retail, to technology and further education. Many of those businesses and organisations will be with us for the Futures Event, as we welcome hundreds of students to the Wham Stadium. Accrington and Rossendale College is a hidden gem in the heart of Hyndburn.

Dunbia Sawley is a slaughter and boning hall facility processing cattle for well-known retail and foodservice customers.
