Amazing Accrington - Spring 2019

TRENCHES AND TRANSFORMATIONS

Sco Dawson Advertising are starting 2019 on a high!

Sco Dawson Advertising (SDA) are a business based in Burnley with their heart in Accrington! SDA have over 30 years experience in marketing and offer a highly-skilled team of marketing professionals. From brand concepts and videography, to design, implementation and PR solutions – they work to give businesses a creative edge and celebrate their strengths. 2018 was a busy year for SDA with new challenges and projects, which have all seen huge success. As founders of the #AmazingAccrington Initiative, SDA took over the town with events and activities throughout the year, including the Accrington Food and Drink Festival which saw over 14,000 people flock to the town and the Trick or TreatWeek where local businesses got involved in a free treasure trail for children. SDA have a keen interest, not only in events in the town but the history of Accringon and districts. Considerable experience in researching the history and heritage of Accrington, combined with their team of in-house experts, means they were the ideal choice for two important projects last year – an Interactive Pals Module and a Townscape Heritage Exhibition. Over 12,000 records, in one place for the first time and accessible to everyone, SDA created the Interactive Pals Module. Located within Accrington Town Hall, the module has audio, video and interactive elements, alongside the ability to send yourself a postcard (for free) detailing information held on record of a lost relative from the area. It is one of a kind. Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said: “We have fully supported this project from the beginning and I knew Sco Dawson would deliver something brilliant. I have to say though, this exceeds all my expectations. I was predicting a table with a touch screen… they’ve created a whole trench! Its magnificent and brings together so much knowledge, history and information I am sure people will spend countless hours here. Not only is it accessible to all, it’s intelligent. Multiple families can be actively engaging with the module at the same time as there are three individual interactive iPads plus one ‘master’ iPad which controls the large main screen. You definitely can’t read or watch everything in one visit so hopefully it will encourage people to venture into Accrington more oen and discover more.” As well as looking pack on Accrington’s Heritage, SDA were pleased to be awarded the tender for a temporary exhibition at Haworth Art Gallery which was installed in November. Working closely with Hyndburn Borough Council and the Townscape Heritage Initiative Officer the project came together in spectacular fashion. Murray Dawson, Managing Director at Sco Dawson Advertising, and Chairman of the #AmazingAccrington initiative, said: “As a business Sco Dawson have already done a lot of research into the history of Accrington, particularly the Accrington Pals, but the idea of a journey finishing with concepts for the future of the town adds something extra special and new, something aspirational.

Hundreds of hours were spent on this project involving many areas of the business. We have not only produced and installed the exhibition but provided concepts, photography, artwork, narrative, leaflets and marketing. The exhibition seeks to explore the rich past heritage of Accrington whilst also looking ahead to the future of the town as a focal point. It celebrates and details the newTown Square and showcases the journey of individuals and organisations who made it happen. Part of this task was making sure we create a truly enjoyable experience for individuals and families who will visit and, in turn, encourage people to venture into Accrington Town Centre. We are very much starting 2019 on a high, everyone at the business is looking forward to the events and projects lined up for the year.” For further information about Sco Dawson Advertising visit www.scodawson.co.uk or call 01282 426846
