SUMMER EDITION : 2023

The Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society is open to everyone, whether you're a member or a curious visitor, and admission is free of charge for non-members. Its knowledgeable volunteers provide a warm welcome every Thursday and the first Saturday of the month from 1pm to 5pm. The research centre provides access to a wide range of resources, including its computers, where you can access Ancestry.com and Find My Past. It also has thousands of books, CD stock, published society papers, and indexes.

Membership is open to anyone interested in this field, and subscriptions are £14 for the year with concessions. This gives access to a wider range of materials and resources and provides a space for exploration and learning to advance your studies. If you have a family history question or just want to know more about how to get started, the friendly volunteers will provide a one-to-one service to point you in the right direction. Being the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society, they can provide you with everything

you need to search your past. They can also assist with contacting other branches for those with family ties in different parts of the country. The society has a worldwide membership that allows access to its forum, which includes people from as far as Australia.

You may well have been in the fabulous surroundings of GM Fitted Furniture, the bespoke furniture designer based on Whalley Road in Altham West (BB5 5DH) – but did you know one large area is now a beautifully stylish bistro and bar open to the public? The breakfast menu features of course a Full English and vegetarian version, alongside pancakes, eggs Benedict, and avocado toast amongst others. After 11:45am the lunch menu comes into play, and particular highlights include Campfire Chilli Fries, homemade pies,

and delicious burgers, all freshly cooked.

The drinks menu is also exceptional, with coffees and hot drinks, milkshakes including Mini Egg and Biscoff, and a range of cocktails including a Drumstick; all alongside a fully stocked bar. Café William is open for breakfast from 8:30am Monday – Saturday, plus brunches, lunches and afternoon tea with the kitchen closing at 3pm.
