The Christmas Light Switch On is the best event of the year and I can’t wait to see the town centre packed again, with family and friends having fun and enjoying all the fantastic activities on the square and in the mar ket hall. Accrington Food Festival The 2022 Accrington Food Festival returned in style with a number of fantastic attrac tions including international, regional and local food markets, 1940s singers, a full-size Spitfire plane static display, a sensational war re-enactment and a kitchen demo area featuring TV star Molly Robbins and some amazing local businesses.

2021 Accrington Christmas Light Switch On Over 12,000 headed to Accrington town centre to enjoy a fantastic, family friendly start to Christmas! Highlights included a collective school choir, live music, fascinat ing displays from the LED drummers, a free bucking reindeer in Accrington Market and late night shopping at Hyndburn’s sensa tional independents.

There is going to be a fantastic evening of entertainment including live music, fire eaters, a fair ground, a magnificent firework display, interactive entertainment, meet and greet with char acters from Jack and the Beanstalk, a character trail around the town including The Grinch, WillyWonka and Jack and the Beanstalk, plus much more! All the shops will be open in Accrington Market, while the outside market and inside market has also sold out for pop-up stalls, which will be headlined by the fantastic Finch Bakery.

Head to Ac crington, Great Harwood, Os waldtwistle, Clayton le Moors and Rishton this Christmas and prepare to be amazed.

We had over 12,000 people attending the Light Switch On in 2021, but this year we want to make it bigger and better than ever before. Let’s make this Christmas a very special one!

Soapbox Challenge The extremely popular #AmazingAccrington Soapbox Challenge returned on Saturday 27th August 2022, with over 15,000 people from around the North West enjoying the spectacle… and the weather! With pit lanes and a large screen added to this year’s event, we enjoyed a fantastic day which also included The CODE Show in Ac crington Market, a local coding roadshow celebrating how 1980’s Britain embraced the home computer.
