Accrington Stanley Women FC v Darwen FC Women
Let's get in full voice behind the Reds today!
I am delighted to be welcoming Darwen FC Womens here today and I am sure we will have a tremendous turn out to see the in-form Stanley take on the Salmonesses. As always we are extremely grateful to Accrington Stanley FC for facilitating us to play here, with such superb facilities which will help us mark this local derby and cup fixture in style. We are also very grateful to HML Recycling for sponsoring the fixture and we are proud to also welcome many local girls teams, here in force to cheer on their Accrington Stanley Women. Darwen Women do play one league above us in the North West Womens Premier league, but in the last two outings it has been a Stanley victory - can we bring it home today at The Wham? Only the 90 minutes will tell. I am sure we will be in for a great day, whatever the outcome! We are very excited to play at the Wham, it’s not every day you get to play in a professional club stadium, so we are really looking forward to the occasion. The season started really well which resulted in us being top of the league for a short period and we had an historic FA Cup run which was fantastic for our football club, recent results haven’t gone our way, but performances have been really good but it hasn’t reflected in the scoreline. We got a great result away from home in the last game we played, so hopefully we can bring that performance into today’s game. We expect a really tough challenge from Accrington, they are in good form, and they have some really good players. Cup games are always unpredictable and throw in a local derby and it should be an entertaining match. Let's get in full voice behind the Reds today. Sami Smithson Chairperson - ASWFC
