PUBLIC SERVICES AND MILITARY ACADEMY

Levels 1, 2 & 3

Public Services Level 2

Public Services (Military Academy) Level 1 Introduction – The modules are taught by specialised staff and will involve lectures, practicals, presentations, and research. You’ll attend residential work experience with all three armed services, and have numerous opportunities during the year to learn first- hand from serving regular and reserve Armed Forces personnel. In addition to developing those all-important personal qualities, you will train and receive help to prepare you to pass the selection process for the service and job of your choice; leading to a career in the Armed Forces for those who want it. Entry requirements – Two GCSEs at grades 3 including English and maths or equivalent. You will also be required to participate in a College interview and show a keen interest and commitment to having a successful career in the public services. Progression – Progression onto the Level 2 Public Services course or employment in one of HM Armed Forces, the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, HM Prison Service, Border Force or other public service employment.

Public Services Level 3 Introduction – You will study a variety of modules over the two year programme including: outdoor and adventurous expeditions, leadership and teamwork in the public services, understanding discipline in the uniformed public services, land navigation by map and compass, custodial care services, and planning and management of major incidents You will aslo have the opportunity to take part in activities with our Military Academy. Entry requirements – Five GCSEs at grade 5 and grade 4 in English and maths or equivalent or Level 2 in Sport or Public Service. You will also be required to participate in a College interview and show a keen interest and commitment to having a successful career in the public services. Progression – This Level 3 course attracts UCAS points to progress to further study at degree level in Sport, Outdoor Education or Public Services, or you could go straight into employment in one of HM Armed Forces, the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, HM Prison Service, Border Force or other public service employment.

Introduction – On this course you will study a variety of modules over the one year programme, including: participating in sport, outdoor and adventurous activities, leading an outdoor activity session, expedition experience, anatomy and physiology for exercise, introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition. You will aslo have the opportunity to take part in activities with our Military Academy. Entry requirements – Four GCSEs at grade 3 including English and maths or equivalent or Level 1 in Sport or Public Service. You will also be required to participate in a College interview and show a keen interest and commitment to having a successful career in the public services. Progression – Progression onto the Level 3 Public Services course or employment in one of HM Armed Forces, the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, HM Prison Service, Border Force or other public service employment.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.
