HEALTH, SOCIAL AND CHILD CARE

Child Care Level 2

Levels 1, 2 & 3

Introduction – The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Child Care prepares learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. Entry requirements – Four GCSEs at grade 3 and above, including maths and English. Progression – This qualification allows progression on to the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and other Level 3 qualifications relating to child care.

Health and Social Care Level 3

Health and Social Care Level 2

Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings Level 1 Introduction – This qualification will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s sectors. They include the roles played by workers – from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others. Entry requirements – Four GCSEs at grade 2/3 with either maths or English at grade 3 and the others at grade 2. Progression – You can progress on to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce or the Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care.

Introduction – The Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care has been designed to enable learners to access Higher Education or assist with progression into the workplace. This qualification covers a wide range of key subject areas in health and social care, including: anatomy and physiology for health and social care, psychological perspectives in health and social care, and safeguarding in health and social care. Entry requirements – Five GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including maths and English. Progression – Achievement of the Extended Diploma supports learners’ access to Higher Education and progression into a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector. These qualifications do not provide a licence to practice, but may support progression into a wide range of job roles in the health and social care sector.

Introduction – This qualification covers a range of key subject areas in health and social care and includes optional units, allowing learners to pursue an interest in chosen subject areas. Units include: equality, diversity and rights in health and social care, human growth and development, safeguarding and protection for health and social care. Entry requirements – Four GCSEs at grade 3 and above, including maths and English. Progression – These qualifications provide direct progression to our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. These qualifications do not provide a licence to practice, but may support progression into a range of job roles in the health and social care sector.

Child Care Level 3

Introduction – The Technical Level 3 Diploma in Child Care prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. Entry requirements – Five GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including maths and English. Progression – Learners can progress into various unsupervised job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors and can also move onto a higher education course.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.
