Skills for Independence and Work Entry Level 2 Introduction – This is a one-year full-time course which involves three days of study a week. This will give you the opportunity to improve confidence, take part in lots of practical activities, days out and give you a taste of lots of different pathways available to study. Entry requirements – The Foundations Entry 2 Certificate in Using Employability Skills programme is aimed at students aged 16 - 19 years who are possibly achieving at Entry Level 1 or 2 and are currently undecided on an area of study. You must have English and maths at Entry Level 1 or 2. Progression – Successful completion of this Entry 2 Certificate in Using Employability Skills qualification can lead to a place on an Entry Level 3 programme, supported internship or further training opportunities.

You must have English and maths at Entry Level 1 or 2, and you will be expected to attend a college interview. Progression – Successful completion of this Entry 2 Certificate in Using Employability Skills qualification can lead to a place on an Entry Level 3 programme.

Introduction – These courses are designed to provide you with an introduction in to the specific industry that you are interested in. This will include the high expectations and standards of employers within the industry, encouraging and supporting you to develop the skills required to progress into further academic study and employment within them. Areas covered are Catering and Hospitality, Creative Media, Hair and Beauty, Health and Social Care, Motor Vehicle Engineering and Construction Trades. Entry requirements – The Entry 3 Introduction to Skills programmes are aimed at students aged 16 - 19 years who are possibly achieving at Entry Level 2. You must have English and maths at Entry Level 1 or 2, and you will be expected to attend a college interview. Progression – Successful completion of the chosen Entry 3 Developing Skills qualification can lead to a place on a Level 1 programme at the college or in some cases employment.

Introduction – The course is designed to support learners’ social skills development and specifically those who experience barriers to the participation of education. Whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification, learners will cover a range of topics to enable their personal and social development in preparation for their further studies and employment. This course will also provide opportunities for community participation and to experience different vocationally specific subjects offered within the college. Entry requirements – The programme is aimed at students aged 16 – 19 and who are possibly achieving at Entry Level 3. You must have English and maths at Entry Level 3 and you will be expected to attend a college interview. Progression – Successful completion of this course can lead to a place on a Level 1 programme or employment.

Applicants who have not achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their chosen college course.
