Awards & Achievements in the last College Year 2018

May 2018 • Level 3 Theatrical and Media Make-up and Level 3 Hairdressing students were selected to represent Accrington and Rossendale College at the Preston Rocks event, working for Hot Flush Productions fashion show hosted by Gok Wan!! • Catering and Hospitality students prepared and served the Accrington Stanley end of season dinner at Accrington Town Hall. • Information and Guidance Team awarded the Matrix Standard. • Level 2 Painting and Decorating student Megan Talbot wins the CD Alliance ‘Young Apprentice Award’. • Jack Silcox wins the ‘Overcoming Adversity Award’ at the CD Alliance Awards. • Construction students help redecorate Accrington Stanley offices as part of their redevelopment.

January 2018 • Motor Engineering students visited the Autosport International Performance Show and appeared in a short video interview about it on the official channel. February 2018 • Ofsted Grade 2 achieved for the College : Ofsted GOOD. • Construction students work with Hambling Construction renovating Accrington Fire Station. March 2018 • The college’s Apprentice Awards took place during Apprenticeships Week with over 22 of our Apprentices being celebrated for their commitment and hard work.

April 2018 • Megan Talbot takes second place at the Johnstone’s Young Painter of the Year competition • Girls’ football academy AoC Regional and National Champions for the second year in a row and the Boys’ academy AoC Regional Champions and finish third at the Nationals • Construction students did work experience helping to renovate a stately home in Prestwich, Manchester with Ant Plant Construction. • Students and staff took part in the Microsoft Office Specialist Test over two days with everyone completing and in some very quick times.
