188 Years of The Stanhill Methodist Church

A Celebration Service was held on 20th July.

The church was full with friends from the Hyndburn churches and invited people who had connections with the chapel over the years. The service was led by our minister, Rev. Matt Smith. Margaret Taylor read the poem she had written specially for the occasion, capturing events over the years. Ruth Howarth played the organ for the old traditional hymns - a good Methodist sing to celebrate Stanhill Methodist Church. A professional video was made during the service, which can be seen on u tube and various social media platforms. Stanhill Methodist Church will continue to touch the hearts of us all.

Worship ceased at the Stanhill Methodist Church on 31st August 2025.

On John Wesley’s death bed March 2nd 1791 he repeatedly said: ‘The Best of all is - God is with Us !

These words we take with us as we leave the building which has been our spiritual home for many years. Giving thanks with what has been, for all the stalwarts who have given their devoted service to the Stanhill Methodist Church during the past 188 years. Time to leave and take God’s Love and all the memories of Stanhill Methodist Church with us as we journey onto pastures new.
